Description
Close-up of American racist radio announcer and would-be politician (as well as founder of Ku Klux Klan splinter group responsible for a number of terrorist and paramilitary activities) Asa Carter (1925 - 1979) speaks in opposition to school integration at an rally, Clinton, Tennessee, September 1956. Carter later renamed himself Forrest Carter (after the first 'grand wizard' of the KKK, Nathan Bedford Forrest) and improbably, touted his supposed (though largely disproven) Cherokee ancestry, and enjoyed a successful career as a novelist several of whose Westerns were adopted into Hollywood films.
